Susquehanna traces its roots to September 1858, when the Missionary Institute of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Susquehanna Female College held their first classes. From its humble beginnings, the university has emerged as a national liberal arts college, advancing the legacy of educating students for lives of achievement, leadership and service.
