Fall Orientation

Move in for first-year students is Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015

President Lemons helping with move-in dayFall Orientation is held for new students over four days prior to the start of the fall semester. Numerous informational sessions, student/faculty events and social activities keep students busy and set the tempo for successful and rewarding experiences at Susquehanna.

When students and families arrive on campus on Thursday, they are greeted by members of the O-Team, a large group of upper-class student advisors and orientation leaders. Look for the bright orange shirts! O-Team leaders will assist in moving in by unloading vehicles. Throughout Fall Orientation, O-Team leaders join first-year students for scheduled activities, and lead small-group sessions and discussions.

Opening Convocation, which marks the official start of the university's academic year, is held on Thursday afternoon. This cherished tradition has Susquehanna faculty, administrators, current students, alumni and President L. Jay Lemons welcome students and their families into the university community.

New students have the opportunity to participate in SU GIVE, a service day held on the Saturday of Fall Orientation. Students may find themselves walking dogs at Mostly Mutts, painting fences at the local playground or playing bingo with residents of an assisted living facility near campus. There are dozens of sites offering numerous ways to serve.

Additional information about Fall Orientation and Welcome Week activities will be shared via mySU in early August and posted to www.susqu.edu/Fall2015.
