A program of study concentrating on the history, culture and biogeography of one of the world's most arid countries. This program involves two courses (Biological Issues in Australia, and Environmental Psychology) taken in the semester prior to the study tour The tour itself functions as a 2-credit course that requires a written, reflective review and a group project, both of which are completed during the following semester. This course is listed as an interdisciplinary 500-level course.

Student trip 2007

Eleven students and two faculty travelled to Australia in 2007. While the trip was substantially similar to that of previous years, several new activities were introduced. The costs were $5000 per student.

Student trip 2005

The 2005 trip went with 10 students and was similar to the Focus 2001, and 2003 programs (Sydney, Uluru and Northern Queensland) though with some changes in emphasis. Costs were $4800 per student (all inclusive) plus any money for incidentals.

Student trip 2003

The 2003 tour cost $4300, and included two course credits as well as all transport, board, food and activity fees. This amount factored in a suggested food budget of AUS$50 per day. We suggested that an additional sum in the order of AU$500 for incidentals, entertainment and gifts etc would be appropriate. Twelve students and two faculty made the trip. There is no photo trip report for this year but a 48minute DVD is available for loan.

Student trip 2001

The 2001 Focus Australia Program. involved two couses, Biological Issues in Australia and Environmental Psychology, followed by an 18-day study tour of the country. The program cost $3900. Ten students and two faculty made the trip.

Student trip 1999
