Dr. Christopher Janzen
janzen@susqu.edu
Department Head
Associate Professor
Analytical Chemistry, Environmental and Inorganic Chemistry

Earned his B.S. at Hamline University, his Ph.D. at Texas A&M University, and was a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institutes of Health.  He specializes in analytical, environmental and inorganic chemistry. He studies the chemical changes in the near-surface environment associated with the Centralia mine fire.

Dr. Swarna Basu
basu@susqu.edu
Assistant Professor
Physical Chemistry

Earned his B.A. at Clark University, his M.A. and Ph.D. at Wesleyan University and was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Connecticut Health Center. He specializes in physical and biophysical chemistry and his research interests are in the areas of laser spectroscopy, fluorescence microscopy, computational chemistry and fluorescence quenching with the overall goal being the study of inter- and intramolecular interactions.

Dr. Geneive Henry
henry@susqu.edu
Assistant Professor
Organic Chemistry

Earned her B.S. and Ph.D. at the University of the West Indies and did postdoctoral work at Harvard University and at Michigan State University.  Her research interests include organic synthesis and natural product chemistry.

Dr. T. Wade Johnson
johnsonw@susqu.edu
Assistant Professor
Biochemistry

Earned his B.S. at Hampden-Sydney College, and his M.S. (inorganic chemistry) and Ph.D. (biochemistry) at Iowa State University.  He also did postdoctoral work at Penn State University.  His research is focused on various problems in photosynthesis using biophysical techniques such as laser flash photolysis and electron paramagnetic resonance.

Dr. Angela Sauers
sauers@susqu.edu
Assistant Professor
Organic and Inorganic Chemistry

Earned her B.S. at Juniata College and her Ph.D. at Princeton University and did her postdoctoral work at the University of Georgia as a Franklin Fellow. Her interests are organic synthesis and coordination chemistry, specifically the design and synthesis of chiral bridging ligands for incorporation into coordination polymers and intercalating ligands for incorporation into metallointercalators used to detect DNA.

Dr. Lou Ann Tom
toml@susqu.edu
Assistant Professor
Analytical Chemistry

Earned her B.A.(chemistry and biology) at Lycoming College, M.S. at Bucknell University and her Ph.D at Lehigh University.  She worked at Merck & Co. as a Senior Scientist and her research is in the area of Molecularly Imprinted Polymers (MIPs).

Dr. Courtney Thomas    Science in Motion Web site
thomasc@susqu.edu
Director of Science in Motion
Adjunct Professor
Biology and Chemistry

Earned her B.S. in biology at St. Ambrose University her Ph.D. in genetics at Iowa State University .  She did postdoctoral work at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at Penn State.  Her research interests focus on the coordination between cell morphology and nuclear division using the model organism Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
