SCHIZOCOSA WOLF SPIDER

HOMEPAGE

Welcome to the world of Schizocosa wolf spider biology!

What are Schizocosa wolf spiders and why do they have their own homepage?

Schizocosa is a common genus of wolf spider found throughout the United States. Most live in leaf litter of deciduous forest and are frequently one of the most abundant predators of the forest floor. They represent a model system for diverse studies in population biology, quantitative behavioral genetics, behavioral phylogeny, sexual selection, foraging behavior, communication and more. This page, when completed, will represent a gateway to the various aspects of Schizocosa biology. It will include references to scientific papers involving Schizocosa research as well as a compilation of researchers in the United States currently conducting research on these ecologically important predators.
