ArchivesRESOLUTION REGARDING Passed at the Monday, December 1, 2008 Meeting WHEREAS, the Student Government Association is the primary voice of the Susquehanna University Student body, and WHEREAS, the Student Government Association is dedicated to promoting and preserving a liberal arts education, and WHEREAS, the Student Government Association wishes to support the University’s endeavor towards a state-of-the-art science building, be it RESOLVED, that the Student Government Association of Susquehanna University will hereby monetarily contribute towards the science building from the class memorial fund, and furthermore be it RESOLVED, that the Student Government Association will hereby contribute the remainder of the monies in the fund so that the balance of the fund will be $6,000.00. WHEREAS, the Student Government Association is the primary voice of the Susquehanna University Student body, and WHEREAS, the Student Government Association wishes to ensure that the trust fund is a truly self sustaining fund, and WHEREAS, the Student Government Association seeks to provide cross cultural scholarship opportunities to students through the interest earned from the fund, be it RESOLVED, that the Student Government Association of Susquehanna University will hereby work towards a new trust that will be invested in the SWIFT Program in order to become self sufficient, and furthermore be it RESOLVED, that the Student Government Association will hereby work towards a trust that will benefit students through cross cultural scholarships through the interest earned. PROCLAMATION REGARDING Passed at the October 20, 2008 Meeting WHEREAS, the Student Government Association is the primary voice of the Susquehanna University Student body, and WHEREAS, Susquehanna University is in its 150th year of existence, and WHEREAS, the Student Government Association is proud to be part of this historical year, and WHEREAS, the Student Government Association recognizes the present school pride on campus, now therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Student Government Association of Susquehanna University joins the University in celebrating its Sesquicentennial Celebration, and furthermore be it RESOLVED, that the Student Government Association supports further endeavors to celebrate this momentous occasion. RESOLUTION REGARDING Passed at the Monday, October 6, 2008 Meeting WHEREAS, the Student Government Association is the primary voice of the Susquehanna University Student body, and WHEREAS, the Student Government Association denounces any and all forms of bias and discrimination and supports the University’s belief in the dignity and worth of all persons, and WHEREAS, the Student Government Association is deeply disturbed by the recent incidents of bias on this campus and the impact that they have had on our community, and WHEREAS, the Student Government Association recognizes the need for the University to adopt proactive measures to help Susquehanna become a more diverse and inclusive community, and WHEREAS, a complete liberal arts education should provide a safe and secure learning environment for all members of the student community, now therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Student Government Association of Susquehanna University joins the Presidential Task Force on Diversity and Inclusiveness in calling for the hiring of a Chief Diversity Officer, and furthermore be it RESOLVED, that the Student Government Association respectfully asks that members of the student body have an opportunity to be involved in the search for this important position, and furthermore be it RESOLVED, that the Student Government Association believes that this position must represent and advocate for all forms of difference and help the University work towards preventing discrimination and bias.
