Toni Davis Finishes Fourth in 100 Butterfly at Paralympics
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – 2004 Susquehanna University graduate Toni Davis finished fourth in the 100-meter butterfly at the 12 th Paralympic Games in Athens, Greece on Sunday. Davis, who was seeded eighth in preliminaries, qualified for the finals in third place after setting an American record during prelims with a time of 1:25.98 that represented an improvement of 4.04 seconds from her seed time of 1:30.02. She was clocked at 1:26.74 in the finals, finishing behind Immaculata Cerasuolo of Italy (1:23.04), Dora Pasztory of Hungary (1:23.85) and Andrea Cole of Canada (1:24.78) in the S8 classification. Davis is scheduled to participate in heats of the 50-meter freestyle on Sunday, Sept. 26, with finals slated for later that day. A record 4,000 athletes representing 141 countries are participating in 19 different sports at the Paralympic Games, which began last Friday and will run until Sept. 28.
