13 Crusaders Named to NFHCA National Academic Squad

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Thirteen Susquehanna University field hockey players have been honored with selection to the 2004 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Academic Squad, the NFHCA has announced.

To be named to the National Academic Squad, student-athletes must maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better through the first semester of the 2004-05 academic year.

In addition, the Susquehanna team was one of 86 schools recognized for maintaining a overall team grade-point average above 3.0 during the 2004 field hockey season.

Earning National Academic Squad status from Susquehanna were freshman attack Jessica Aitken (Birdsboro, PA/Exeter), a 3.34 elementary education major, sophomore goalkeeper Shannon Baker (Dover, PA/Dover), a 4.00 global management major; junior defender Amelia Davies (Lewisburg, PA/Lewisburg), a 3.26 elementary education major, senior midfielder Jacqui DeLorbe (Wilmington, DE/Mount Pleasant), a 3.71 marketing and finance major; senior midfielder Holly Holgate (Factoryville, PA/Lackawanna Trail), a 3.45 early childhood education major; and sophomore attack Jenni Iacovone (Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown), a 3.50 biology major.

Also, junior midfielder Caitlin Meara (Wilmington, DE/Concord), a 3.70 elementary education major; freshman attack Becki Nash (Glen Rock, PA/Lancaster Mennonite), a 3.63 liberal arts major; senior attack Terri Peiffer (Sweet Valley, PA/Lake-Lehman), a 3.33 biology major; junior defender Shelley Reppert (Hamburg, PA/Hamburg), a 3.70 biochemistry major; sophomore attack Ashley Rowell (Wilmington, DE/Concord), a 3.79 elementary education major; senior attack Annie Shoemaker (Camp Hill, PA/Camp Hill), a 3.61 elementary education and Spanish major; and freshman goalkeeper Jess Weiss (Huntington Valley, PA/William Tennent), a 3.56 mathematics major.

The Crusader s finished with a 8-9 overall record and in fifth place in the Commonwealth Conference with a 3-4 league record under second-year head coach Amy Zimmerman .
