Snyder, Hoover Earn Conference Honors in Men's Soccer
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – On the strength of the first 3-0 start in program history, the Susquehanna University men's soccer team swept the Commonwealth Conference weekly honors as announced on Monday. Sophomore Nate Snyder was named the conference Player of the Week while junior Nick Hoover was honored as the Goalie/Defender of the Week as the Crusaders recorded victories over Scranton (3-0), Chowan (4-0) and Neumann (2-0). Snyder (Catawissa, PA/Southern Columbia) scored seven goals on the week, including consecutive hat tricks against Scranton and Chowan and the game-winning goal against Neumann, to match his season total from 2003 when he was named the Commonwealth Conference Co-Rookie of the Year. Hoover (Langhorne, PA/Notre Dame, NJ) made eight saves in the Scranton victory and followed with three saves against Neumann for the first two shutouts of his career in his third and fourth career starts. The Crusaders will host Lycoming on Friday, Sept. 10 at Sassafras Fields in the first home game of the season and the first night game at Susquehanna's new multi-purpose facility.
