Men's Basketball to Play Exhibition at Rider on Saturday
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna University men's basketball team will be in action this Saturday as the Crusaders travel to Division I Rider for an exhibition game that tips off at 3 p.m. at Alumni Gymnasium in Lawrenceville, N.J. Rider, a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, is coached by former Crusader standout and 1986 graduate Don Harnum , son and namesake of Susquehanna's former head coach and director of athletics, who will be entering his eighth season as head coach of the Broncs with a 108-93 career record. In addition, former Susquehanna player and assistant coach and 1997 graduate Tommy Dempsey is beginning his second season as an assistant at Rider after coaching at Lackawanna and Keystone Colleges. Susquehanna head coach Frank Marcinek was an assistant to the elder Harnum during his son's career with the Crusaders, and served as head coach during Dempsey's playing and coaching tenure at Susquehanna. He will begin his 16 th season with a 216-161 career record. The Crusaders finished 15-9 overall and in fifth place in the Commonwealth Conference with a 7-7 league mark, while the Broncs went 17-14 and took fifth in the MAAC with a 10-8 conference record. Susquehanna opens its 2004-05 regular season on Friday, Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. against Elmira in the Pepsi/Weis Markets Tip-Off Tournament at O.W. Houts Gymnasium.
