Four Named All-Conference in Men's Soccer
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna University has placed four players on the All-Commonwealth Conference men's soccer team, as selected by the league's eight head coaches and announced by the conference office on Tuesday. Sophomore forward Nate Snyder and senior defender Nate Gibboney were first-team selections while senior midfielder Jason Zeisloft and sophomore forward Justin Makar were second-team choices after helping the Crusaders to an 11-6-1 record and fifth place in the conference with a 2-4-1 league mark. Snyder (Catawissa, PA/Southern Columbia) and Gibboney (Huntingdon, PA/Huntingdon Area) are the first Crusader duo to make first-team All-Conference since Josh Steffen and Chris Yearicks in 1999, while Zeisloft (Millville, PA/Millville) and Makar (Weirton, WV/Sewickley Academy) give Susquehanna four All-Conference players for the first time in program history. Snyder finished the season ranked second in the conference with 16 goals and 35 points, both school single-season records, despite missing two games with an injury. He scored at least one goal in 11 of the 16 games in which he played, including six game-winners. His 16 goals tied the school single-season record set by Dan Travalet in 1965 while his 35 points broke Travalet's mark of 32 set that season. Gibboney is a four-year starter and helped anchor a Crusader defense that finished with a 0.96 goals against average and six shutouts. Susquehanna did not allow more than two goals in any of its six losses, all of which came by one goal with three in overtime. He also contributed offensively with three assists in 18 games. Zeisloft became a starter near the end of his freshman season and started the final 58 games of his career. He scored two goals and added an assist for five points this season, including the game-winner in a 3-1 win at Juniata on Oct. 6. Zeisloft finished his career with seven goals and four assists in 71 games. Makar finished second on the team in scoring with four goals and eight assists for 16 points. His eight assists rank second in the conference and tied the program record set in 1987 by Erik Rank and tied in 1996 by Chris Yearicks.
