Susquehanna to Face Moravian in Women's Tennis Playoffs
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – For the first time since 2001, the Susquehanna University women's tennis team will be participating in the conference playoffs as the Crusaders will travel to Moravian to battle the Greyhounds in a Commonwealth Conference semifinal match at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. The Crusaders (7-2 overall, 5-2 Commonwealth) clinched the third seed in the four-team tournament with an 8-1 victory over Widener on Saturday and will face Moravian (11-2 overall, 6-1 Commonwealth), which has won seven of the last eight conference championships but finished second in the conference standings after a 6-3 loss to unbeaten Elizabethtown on Saturday. Susquehanna is led by junior Danielle Dormer (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East) , who has compiled a 7-2 record at first singles and has a 29-6 career record. Playing at second singles will be senior Sarah Lampe (St. Marys, PA/Elk County Christian) , who has a 5-2 record this season and is 28-11 in four seasons. At third singles, junior Sarah Boynton (Prince Frederick, MD/Calvert) is 6-3 overall this season and 20-9 in her career, while freshman Brittany Reiman (Upper Black Eddy, PA/Palisades) has gone 7-2 while playing at third, fourth and sixth singles. Another freshman, Katie Zimmerman (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) has gone 6-2 while playing both fourth and fifth singles, while sophomore Jaclyn Shindler (York, PA/West York) has played fifth and sixth singles and is 7-2 overall on the season and 11-5 in her career. In doubles, Lampe and senior Leah Rice (Ottsville, PA/Pennridge) have gone 5-1 at the number-one slot, while Dormer and Boynton are 5-0 at second doubles and 5-2 overall. Senior Jen Moyer (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) and sophomore Allison Handman (Kingston, PA/Wyoming Seminary) are 3-4 at third doubles and 4-4 overall. The winner of Wednesday's match will face the winner of the other Commonwealth semifinal between Elizabethtown and Lebanon Valley on Saturday for the conference title.
