Women's Tennis Readies for MAC Tournament

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna University women's tennis team will be in action at the Middle Atlantic Conference Individual Tennis Championships to be held at Drew University on Saturday and Sunday.

The championships will be held under a new format this season, with champions crowned in six singles flights and three doubles flights. Previously, one champion was determined for both singles and doubles.

The Crusaders finished their dual-meet schedule with an 8-4 overall record and 5-2 in the Commonwealth Conference under 11 th -year head coach Bob Jordan .

Junior Danielle Dormer (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East) will play at first singles after compiling a 9-3 record during the season. She has a 31-7 career record which includes a 3-2 record in two previous tournament appearances.

Playing at second singles will be senior Sarah Lampe (St. Marys, PA/Elk County Christian) , who went 8-2 this season and has a career 31-11 record. She will be making her second career appearances in the MAC singles tournament after falling in the first round in 2001.

Junior Sarah Boynton (Prince Frederick, MD/Calvert) went 7-3 at third singles this season and compiled an overall 8-4 record in 2004, boosting her career record to 22-10.

Freshman Brittany Reiman (Upper Black Eddy, PA/Palisades) is entered in fourth singles after going 6-1 in that position this season and 10-2 overall. She needs one victory to tie the Susquehanna record for wins by a freshman set in 2000 by all-time wins leader and 2002 MAC champion Tara McHugh and equaled by Dormer two years ago.

Another freshman, Katie Zimmerman (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) is slotted at fifth singles after finishing 3-2 in that spot during the season and 7-3 overall.

Sophomore Jaclyn Shindler (York, PA/West York) rounds out the Crusader lineup at sixth singles, going 3-2 there during the season and 8-4 overall to improve her career record to 12-7.

In doubles, Lampe and senior Leah Rice (Ottsville, PA/Pennridge) will play in the first position after going 6-3 there during the season. The duo also competed in last year's MAC tournament and finished 1-1, and have a career mark of 11-5 as a team. Lampe is 2-2 in doubles play in the MAC tournament while Rice is 1-2 all-time.

Dormer and Boynton will team at second doubles after going 7-1 in that spot this season and 7-3 overall. Playing together full-time in both 2002 and 2004, the pair have a 16-5 career record as a team.

Senior Jen Moyer (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge) and sophomore Allison Handman (Kingston, PA/Wyoming Seminary) will play third doubles after going 4-6 there during the season and 5-6 overall. Handman will be making her tourney debut while Moyer partnered with Rice in a first-round loss in 2001.
