Gibboney Named Academic All-District in Football
SELINSGROVE, PA – Susquehanna University senior free safety Ben Gibboney has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District II College Division football second team, as voted upon by members of CoSIDA and released Thursday.
To be nominated for the Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 or higher cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
 Gibboney (Huntingdon, PA/Huntingdon Area) is a four-year starter at safety who leads the Crusaders with 66 tackles (43 solo) along with three interceptions through the first nine games of the 2005 season.
He also leads the Middle Atlantic Conference in punt returns with an average of 12.3 yards per runback, and is second in the MAC in kickoff returns with an average of 22.3 yards per return.
Gibboney, a history major with a 3.27 cumulative grade-point average, has 246 tackles (184 solo) along with 38 pass breakups, eight forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries and 13 interceptions in 39 career games.
The District II College Division consists of all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and the District of Columbia .
