Edwards, Gibboney Sweep MAC Weekly Honors

SELINSGROVE, PA – Susquehanna University junior halfback Anthony Edwards and senior free safety Ben Gibboney were honored as the Middle Atlantic Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for their performances in Saturday's 35-7 win over Juniata.

Edwards (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks West) recorded the seventh-highest single-game rushing total in school history with a career-high 187 yards on 31 carries and three touchdowns on runs of 1, 3 and 49 yards, piling up 122 yards on 14 carries in the second half alone.

Edwards, who surpassed 1,000 career rushing yards in the game, ranks fourth in the MAC in rushing with a career-high 483 yards on 96 carries (5.0 average) along with five touchdowns.

Gibboney (Huntingdon, PA/Huntingdon Area) was named Defensive Player of the Week for the third time in his career after making 11 tackles and his 12 th career interception while leading a Crusader defense that allowed just 240 total yards to Juniata, which ran just three offensive players from inside the Susquehanna 20-yard line.

In his career against his hometown team that his father, Tom, coached in the mid-1990s, Gibboney recorded 32 tackles, three interceptions, a fumble recovery and four pass breakups in four games – all Susquehanna wins.

The Crusaders (2-3 overall, 1-3 MAC) travel to Widener on Saturday at 1 p.m.
