Hauke Named Gus Weber Crusader Player of the Week
SELINSGROVE , PA – Susquehanna University senior linebacker Rob Hauke has been selected as the winner of the team's Gus Weber Crusader Player of the Week, sponsored by Family Buffet and Steaks along Routes 11 & 15 in Shamokin Dam.
Hauke (Coplay, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) finished with eight tackles, including a pair of tackles for loss, in the Crusaders' 35-7 loss to Middle Atlantic Conference champion Wilkes on Saturday afternoon.
Family Buffet and Steaks will donate a check for $100 in the name of Hauke to the charity of his choice during Friday's Quarterback Club luncheon at noon in the Apple Community Room in the James W. Garrett Sports Complex.
Now in their 10th year of sponsorship of the Gus Weber Player of the Week award, Family Buffet and Steaks has donated $8,800 to charity in the names of Susquehanna players.
The Player of the Week award is named after former Susquehanna University president Gustave Weber, who served as president of Susquehanna for more than 18 years and was a former standout player at Wagner College. He was an avid booster of Crusader athletics, and in particular the football team, which he coached for the final two games of the 1965 season.
The Crusaders (2-7 overall, 2-6 MAC) conclude their 2006 season on Saturday, hosting Lycoming at 1:30 p.m. at Nicholas A. Lopardo Stadium.
