Susquehanna University Women's Tennis Preview
SELINSGROVE, PA – Even with the graduation of its top two singles players from last season, the Susquehanna University women's tennis team has the look of a squad that is ready to make a run at a Commonwealth Conference playoff berth in 2006 for 13th-year head coach Bob Jordan .
The Crusaders return six letterwinners from last year's squad, led by junior Brittany Reiman (Upper Black Eddy, PA/Palisades) who is penciled in at the number one spot after she went 6-6 overall and 6-5 at third singles last season, while freshman Brittany Guerin (Montoursville, PA/Montoursville) is slated to play at the number-two singles position.
Junior Katie Zimmerman (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsburg) is set to play at third singles after she finished 5-5 last year, with senior Emma Dunn (Furlong, PA/Central Bucks East) at the fourth singles spot after she saw the first singles action of her career in 2005 and turned in an impressive 9-3 record.
Senior Lindsey Moll (Barto, PA/Upper Perkiomen) is set to play fifth singles after going 1-1 in 2005, while senior Allison Handman (Kingston, PA/Wyoming Seminary) is tabbed for the sixth singles spot after compiling a 1-2 record in 2005. Senior Jaclyn Shindler (York, PA/West York) will also vie for playing time after finishing with a 5-6 record last season.
The doubles lineup is still up in the air, with Handman (4-7), Moll (5-4) and Zimmerman (6-6) bringing the most experience to the courts while Guerin was a two-time District 4 Class AA doubles champion.
