Briggs Named Women's Basketball Coach at Merrimack

SELINSGROVE, Pa.– After three seasons as head women's basketball coach at Susquehanna University, Liz Cranmer Briggs has resigned to become head coach at Division II Merrimack University.

Briggs compiled a 32-41 record in three seasons with the Crusaders, including a 12-13 record during the 2004-05 season, and takes over a Warrior squad that has gone 81-19 over the past three seasons including trips to the Division II Final Four in each of the last two years.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for Liz to move to a top-notch Division II program, and we wish her nothing but success in her new position," said Susquehanna director of athletics Pam Samuelson. "We appreciate all that she did for Crusader women's basketball and the entire athletics program."

In addition to her duties as women's basketball coach, Briggs served as the first head coach of the Crusader women's golf team and was the school's senior women's administrator.

A national search is underway for Briggs' replacement, who will lead the Crusaders into the 2005-06 season on Friday, Nov. 19 against Manhattanville in the Pepsi/Weis Markets Tip-Off Tournament at O.W. Houts Gymnasium.
