SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Five Susquehanna University men's tennis players will compete at the Middle Atlantic Conference Individual Championships on Saturday and Sunday at Lehigh University.

First-year head coach Tracy Karr will take her young squad to the tournament, with four of the five players in their freshman seasons. For the first time, the tournament will be flighted as six singles champions and three doubles champions will be crowned.

Junior Steve Kane (Wilton, CT/Wilton) is entered at first singles after compiling a 2-9 record at that flight this season. He has a career record of 8-13 in two seasons with the squad.

At third singles, freshman Russ Suereth (Mountain Lakes, NJ/Mountain Lakes) is entered. He finished 1-9 overall during the 2005 season and 1-6 at third flight.

Freshman Matt Stahl (Simsbury, CT/Westminster) will compete at fourth singles after going 4-5 overall and 2-4 in that position this season.

At fifth singles, freshman Cooper Stewart (Barboursville, VA/Solebury School) will be in action after going winless in seven matches during the regular season.

Freshman Todd Adams (Brimfield, MA/Tantasqua Regional) will be in action at sixth singles after compiling a 3-4 overall mark and 3-2 at that lineup spot during the season.

In doubles, Suereth and Adams will play at flight two where they went 1-4 during the season, and Stahl and Stewart will team at flight three where they compiled a perfect 3-0 record together.

A ction begins on Saturday at 9 a.m. with first, second and third round action. Semifinal and finals action in both singles and doubles will be played Sunday also beginning at 9 a.m.
