SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna University sophomore shortstop Sarah Shaffer has been named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week for the week ending March 13, the conference office announced Monday.

Shaffer (New Castle, PA/Shenango) hit .481 (13-for-27) with 12 runs scored and five stolen bases as the Crusaders went 6-2 during their season-opening trip to Myrtle Beach, SC for spring break.

Shaffer hit safely in all eight games, including four multi-hit games, and scored a run in every game while playing every inning at shortstop. She did not strike out in 30 plate appearances, knocked in seven runs to tie for the team lead, and went 10-for-15 (.667) with runners on base.

The Crusaders are scheduled to play a doubleheader at King's on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
