SELINSGROVE, Pa. – For the second consecutive week, Susquehanna University sophomore shortstop Sarah Shaffer is the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday for the week ending March 20.

Shaffer (New Castle, PA/Shenango) went 7-for-8 with hits in her first seven at-bats as the Crusaders swept a doubleheader from Elizabethtown on Saturday by scores of 5-3 and 6-0.

Shaffer went 4-for-4 with a triple and a run scored in the opener and finished 3-for-4 with a single, double and triple, two runs scored and two runs batted in during game two.

She has hit safely in all 10 of Susquehanna's games and leads the team with a .571 average (20-for-35) with 15 runs scored and 10 RBIs along with five steals.

The Crusaders (8-2 overall, 2-0 Commonwealth) are at Messiah for a conference doubleheader on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
