Shaffer, McCurley Earn Softball Postseason Honors

SELINSGROVE, Pa.– Susquehanna University sophomore shortstop Sarah Shaffer and freshman infielder Megan McCurley have been named second-team All-Commonwealth Conference in softball as voted upon by the league's eight head coaches and released Tuesday.

Shaffer (New Castle, PA/Shenango) led the Crusaders in batting average (.398), runs scored (23), triples (3), runs batted in (15), total bases (48), slugging percentage (.516), on-base percentage (.447) and stolen bases (5) while starting 28 games at shortstop.

A two-time conference Player of the Week this season, she ranked second in the Commonwealth Conference in batting average, second in on-base percentage, fifth in slugging percentage and tied for seventh in runs scored.

McCurley (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) hit .396 and led the Crusaders in hits (38), doubles (7) and tied Shaffer for the team lead with 15 runs batted in. She ranks third in the Commonwealth Conference in batting average, eighth in slugging percentage (.469), fifth in on-base percentage (.417) and tied for ninth in hits.

Susquehanna finished 17-15 overall and in sixth place in the Commonwealth Conference with a 4-10 league record under third-year head coach Kathy Kroupa.
