Bob James Resigns as Defensive Coordinator
SELINSGROVE , PA – Susquehanna University defensive coordinator Bob James has resigned after accepting a position as defensive backs and strength and conditioning coach at Wingate University. James spent three years on the Crusader coaching staff, helping the defense rank number one in passing yards allowed (123.0 per game) in the Middle Atlantic Conference during the 2006 season.
The Crusaders ranked fourth overall in the MAC in total defense with 297.4 yards per game allowed in 2006, nearly 150 yards per game less than Susquehanna surrendered prior to James' arrival.
“Bob has done a tremendous job in building our defense during his time with us. He has a great football mind and the players react to him in a very positive way,” said Crusader head coach Steve Briggs. “The position at Wingate is a great opportunity for him and we wish him nothing but success. He will certainly be missed here at Susquehanna.”
In addition to football, James served as an assistant baseball coach at Susquehanna during the 2005 and 2006 seasons and coordinated the strength and conditioning program for Crusader student-athletes.
Wingate University is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the South Atlantic Conference. The Bulldogs finished 8-3 overall last season and 5-2 in the SAC.
