Four Crusaders on Landmark Winter All-Academic Team

SELINSGROVE, PA – Four Susquehanna University student-athletes are among the 32 honored with selection to the 2007-08 Winter Landmark All-Academic Team. Junior Jeffrey Brooks (Cogan Station, Pa./Meadowbrook Christian) from the men's indoor track and field team, senior Jeffrey Fornadley (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) from the men's swimming team, junior Amanda Kane (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua) from the women's swimming team, and senior Ruth Williamson (State College, Pa./DuBois Central Catholic) from the women's basketball team were Susquehanna's selections.

Brooks helped Susquehanna to a runner-up finish at the Landmark Indoor Track & Field Championships. He was fourth in the mile at the meet and claimed second-team All-Conference honors as part of the 4x800 relay. Academically, he's working towards a degree in accounting and earned Landmark Academic Honor Roll status for the fall and winter seasons.

Fornadley was a captain for the Susquehanna men's swimming & diving team and was the Landmark Male Co-Swimmer of the Year for his efforts at the Landmark Championships. He won three individual events and was a part of four winning relays, and also helped the team to an undefeated dual meet season. Fornadley is pursuing a degree in biology.

Kane was a key performer for the Susquehanna women's swimming & diving team that enjoyed one of the best regular seasons in program history. She was one of the top freestyle swimmers on the team and was a part of two top-four relays at the Landmark Championships. A Landmark Academic Honor Roll pick, she is an accounting major at Susquehanna.

Williamson was a co-captain and three-year letterwinner for the Susquehanna women's basketball team. She finished her career with 737 points and helped the Crusaders earn a pair of conference postseason appearances. A three-time Academic Honor Roll recipient, she is majoring in religion and women's studies and has one of the highest GPAs among Crusader athletes.

Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team, which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically. Nominees could compete in any of the Landmark winter sports and must be a sophomore or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. The Landmark Conference sponsors men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming & diving, and men's and women's indoor track and field during the winter season.

The Winter All-Academic Team features 16 seniors, 13 juniors and a trio of sophomores. In addition, all six winter sports sponsored by the Landmark Conference are represented with at least one student-athlete. The Landmark Conference will select an All-Academic Team for each of the three athletics seasons during the year.
