SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna University senior center Matt Effler and junior guard Sarah Jane Kalejta have been named to the Middle Atlantic Conference Weekly Honor Roll for men's and women's basketball, respectively, for the week ending January 22.

Effler (Rye Brook, NY/Blind Brook) averaged 20.0 points and 8.0 rebounds as the Crusaders split a pair of Commonwealth Conference games. He posted his third double-double of the season with game highs of 21 points and 11 rebounds in a 69-58 win over Elizabethtown on Wednesday, then finished with a game-high 19 points in a 73-67 loss at Lebanon Valley on Saturday.

In the two games, Effler shot 53.8 percent (14-for-26) from the field and 92.3 percent (12-of-13) from the foul line. For the season, he leads the Crusaders (6-11 overall, 2-4 Commonwealth) in scoring (14.9 points per game), rebounding (8.1 per game) and field-goal percentage (59.9 percent).

Kalejta (Coal Township, PA/Lourdes Regional) averaged 12.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 5.5 steals as the Crusaders picked up a pair of conference wins. She was one of four players in double figures with 10 points to go with five rebounds and four assists in a 63-46 win over Elizabethtown on Tuesday, then scored all 15 of her points in the second half while setting career highs with eight rebounds and eight steals in a 63-60 come-from-behind win at Lebanon Valley on Saturday.

She shot 9-for-17 from the field (52.9 percent) and 7-for-8 from the foul line in the victories, and in 66 minutes of action primarily in a ball-handling role committed just three turnovers. For the season, Kalejta is averaging 8.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game for the Crusaders (10-6 overall, 3-3 Commonwealth entering Monday).
