Susquehanna Announces 2006 Sports Hall of Fame Class
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Six former Susquehanna University student-athletes as well as a pair of longtime coaches will be inducted into the university's Sports Hall of Fame in ceremonies in the Degenstein Campus Center on Saturday, Feb. 4. The Class of 2006 will increase the total membership of the Sports Hall of Fame to 167 members since its foun ding in 1967. This year's inductees are Jeff Cole '88 (baseball), Pete Stoma '88 (football), David Battisti '91 (football), Ron Rux '93 (football/track and field), Alison Hepler '95 Wolfgang (basketball) and Megan Lytle '95 Hardie (basketball). In addition, former cross country coach Stan Seiple and longtime women's basketball coach Mark Hribar will be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
For his career, he ranks first in program history in stolen bases (58), second in batting average (.382) and runs (105), third in doubles (26) and seventh in hits (116). Cole is a sales director for Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah, Ga. and resides in Rincon, Ga. with his wife, Tania, and their sons, Trevor and Trenton .
In his senior year, Stoma was named the team's Co-Offensive Player of the Year after helping the Crusaders set a then-school record with 2,225 passing yards for the season. He is employed as an attorney with the Hudson County Prosecutors Office and resides in Caldwell, N.J. with his wife, Meredith.
After graduating from Susquehanna, Battisti earned his J.D. from the Dickinson School of Law in 1994. He is Vice President and Assistant General Counsel for Penske Truck Leasing and resides in Phoenixville, Pa. with his wife, Renee, and their children, Cameron and Alexandra.
In track, Rux earned a pair of silver medals in the long and triple jumps at the 1993 MAC championships, and was a bronze medalist in the long jump as a junior. He still ranks in the top five in program history in both events. Rux earned a certification in supply chain management from Cal State-Fullerton and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom as a major in the United States Marine Corps. He is a logistics manager for Target and resides in Modesto, Calif. with his wife, Erica, and their infant daughter, Peyton Marie.
Wolfgang earned a master's degree in education strategies from Wilkes University and is a second-grade teacher in the Pocono Mountain School District. She resides in Wyoming, Pa. with her husband, Ron, and their daughters, Emily and Katie.
She earned a master of education degree in counseling from Millersville University and is a graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School. Hardie is a teacher, coach and house parent at Proctor Academy in Andover, N.H., where she resides with her husband, Brad.
He earned a bachelor of science degree in architecture from Penn State University and is the founder of Architecture by Seiple in Sunbury, Pa., where he resides with his wife, Anne. He has two daughters, Christi and Terri, and a son, Penn.
A graduate of Mansfield University, he is a fourth-grade teacher in the Allegheny Valley School District and resides in Pittsburgh with his wife, Susan. Hribar has two daughters: Madelyn, a junior at Duquesne, and Katy, a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh .
