Spangler to be Inducted into the USTFCCCA Hall of Fame
SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Mike Spangler, a standout track and field athlete during his four year tenure at Susquehanna University, will be inducted into the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame on May 21.
Spangler, a 1988 Susquehanna University graduate, was a four-time NCAA Division III Champion while also claiming 18 Middle Atlantic Conference victories under legendary Susquehanna track and field coach, Jim Taylor.
As a seven-time All-American, Spangler reigns as the most decorated male athlete in Crusader history continuing to hold school records in the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes. Set at the Division III outdoor national meet, his 400 meter record of 46.22 seconds sits seventh in all-time Division III history.
In addition, he was also the recipient of the Blair Heaton Award as a senior.
Originated in 2003, the hall of fame nominations are submitted to committee of coaches and narrowed down accordingly. Eight members were inducted into the hall of fame as the class of 2007.
