Crusaders Receive Academic Laurels
STARKVILLE, Miss., Oct. 7 — The National Fastpitch Coaches Association recently announced their 2008 all–academic awards.
Susquehanna University placed 31st in NCAA Division III with a 3.33 team grade point average and had 11 players earn individual Scholar-Athlete Awards. These softball players must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5.
Susquehanna's individual honorees were Bekah Bennett '08 (Mifflinburg, Pa./Milton), Erin Diefenbach '08 (New Columbia, Pa./Milton), Amy Licata '08 (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood), Danielle McCann '08 (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston), Gretchen Halsey '09 (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville), Laurie Blaszka '09 (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional), Kelli Holota '10 (Livingston, N.J./Livingston ), Kim Rubino '11 (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany), Bryn Whitmire '11 (Lederach, Pa./Souderton Area), Taylor Crawford '11 (Matamoras, Pa./Delaware Valley) and Sara Bartoletti '11 (Wilkes–Barre, Pa./James M. Coughlin).
Halsey and Blaszka were honored for the second year in a row. Whitmire was the recipient of the Top GPA Award, given to the player on each team with the highest GPA.
