Susquehanna Women's Volleyball

2008 Program Overview

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna University volleyball will be led by sixth-year head coach John “Kuuipo” Tom in 2008. The team posted consecutive 20-win seasons in 2004 and 2005, just the second time in program history that SU had won 20 or more games in back-to-back years.

Though the past two seasons have not been as successful, the Crusaders have been consistently strong on- and off-the-court, including leading the newly formed Landmark Conference in a bevy of statistical categories in 2007.

SU paced the Landmark last year in the lowest versus-opponents categories of kills, kills per game, assists, assists per game, service aces per game, blocks, blocks per game, digs and digs per game.

In addition, Missy Kadingo '07 and Ainsley Catagnus '09 (Reading, Pa./Reading Central Catholic) earned all–Middle Atlantic Commonwealth Conference honors as second-team members in 2006. Catagnus and teammates Gretchen Halsey '09 (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville) and Kathryn Hinsch '09 (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage HS) also earned spots on the 2006 MAC fall academic honor roll.

Last year, Catagnus again earned all–conference honors — this time for the Landmark — as a second-team member. She, along with teammates Erin Dinsmore '10 (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin), Madeline Hals '10 (Morristown, N.J./Morristown), Katie Peters '10 (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) and 2008 captain Jess Cicioni '10 (Frackville, Pa./North Schuylkill) (right), was also honored with inclusion on the 2007 Landmark fall academic honor roll.

Catagnus amassed a team-high 399 kills in 2007, finished second on the team in blocks with 76 and tied for second in service aces with 27.

Lindsey Jankiewicz '11 (Easton, Pa./Freedom) was second on the team with 383 kills and first in blocks with 77. Cicioni was third in both kills and blocks with 136 and 75, respectively.
