Elementary Education

Sports:

Football, Track & Field

About my major:

I chose to become an elementary education major because of inspiration by my 10th grade English teacher, Mr. Johnston, who was also one of my high school football coaches. He made a big impact on my life and hopefully I’ll be able to do the same to my students and players (I want to coach too!) in the future.

Plans after graduation:

I plan on working overseas in elementary schools on United States military bases. I would like to leave the country for a while and experience the world while I’m young. I would really like to work in Europe or in the Pacific.

Favorite athletic memory so far:
This is a tough one to answer. I’ve been extremely fortunate to be involved in many great experiences as a Crusader. I could list a whole bunch of things, but my top three memories were:

  • Being a freshman starter on the 2009 football team that won the Liberty League championship.
  • The 2011 football season and our overtime wins against Wilkes and Gettysburg.
  • Breaking both the indoor and outdoor shot put records as a sophomore.

For a prospective student-athlete:

If you want to play a sport at the college level, you have to be dedicated. Being a two-sport athlete, I have to put in a lot of time watching film of opponents, practicing, watching film of practices, and lifting to better prepare myself in the best way possible for the upcoming football game or track meet. You have to be dedicated and love the sport you’re playing.
