Wind Ensemble Institute
Take master classes with the U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers' Chorus!
Wind Ensemble Institute is a summer performance experience for high school students. This year, students who attend the Institute, June 22‐28, will have a unique opportunity to learn directly from members of the U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers' Chorus.
This premiere military band will travel to campus Friday, June 27, to hold master classes throughout the afternoon for students attending the institute. The band will also give a free, public concert that evening in Weber Chapel Auditorium.
The university reviews audition recordings and invites 54 gifted woodwind, brass and percussion players to campus for the Wind Ensemble Institute. The week-long, residential program focuses on chamber music and symphonic wind ensemble performance. Students work with Director of Bands Eric L. Hinton, Ph.D., HonFBC, as well as other distinguished Susquehanna faculty members. High school students entering grades 9-12 in the fall of 2014 are invited to apply. Selection is competitive.
