Weis Memorial Lecture
The Sigmund Weis '03 Lecture was established in 1979 by Mrs. Claire G. Weis in memory of her husband, namesake of the Sigmund Weis School of Business. The endowment brings to campus prominent personalities from business and public life to speak on matters of interest to the university and the community.
The Sigmund Weis Memorial Lectureship in Business was established at Susquehanna University in 1979 by Claire G. Weis, now deceased, in memory of her husband. Sigmund Weis (1883-1955) was an honors graduate in Susquehanna’s class of 1903. With his brother Harry Weis (class of 1900), he founded Weis Pure Food Stores Inc. in 1912. The firm now operates 158 stores in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. The purpose of the endowed Weis Lectureship is to bring prominent persons from business and public life to the campus to speak on matters of interest to the university and the area business community.
