Sigmund Weis

The Sigmund Weis Memorial Lectureship in Business is an endowed lectureship that brings prominent persons from business and public life to the campus to speak on matters of interest to the university and the area business community. Established in 1979 by the late Claire G. Weis, the lectureship honors the memory of her husband, Sigmund Weis, an honors graduate in Susquehanna University 's Class of 1903.

With his brother Harry Weis, who was a member of Susquehanna's Class of 1900, Sigmund founded Weis Pure Food Stores Inc., now known as Weis Markets Since its founding in 1912, the grocery store chain has grown to include 158 stores in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
