SU Band Program Overview
Bands at Susquehanna University provide valuable performance opportunities for woodwind, brass and percussion players. All
bands are open to all students. The repertoire for these performing ensembles covers a broad spectrum of styles and is chosen to provide a challenging yet rewarding opportunity for musical and personal growth. The performance schedule is rigorous and generally includes six to eight performances per year. All ensembles are offered for academic credit.

University Wind Ensemble
45-50 musicians, most experienced players, highly select but open to all students, performs works from the standard band repertoire, invited to 2010 Pennsylvania Music Educators’ Conference in Pittsburgh
University Symphonic Band
60-70 musicians, broad spectrum of concert band literature, performs 3 times during the year, invited to 2010 College Band Directors National Association Conference in West Chester, Pa.
University Stadium Band
35-45 musicians, performs at all home football games and pep rallies, open to all students (without audition), performs fight songs, good old shake, rattle and roll songs of the 50’s and 60’s, patriotic songs, R&B, and funk.
Collaborative Wind Project
Finest wind, brass, percussion students playing alongside their studio teachers, students selected by studio teacher nomination, rehearses on professional model of 3-4 rehearsals followed by a concert, performs repertoire such as Stravinsky Symphonies of Wind Instruments, Strauss Suite in B-flat, Dvorak Serenade in d minor. (Not for credit)
