Meet the Assistants

Charlay Yates is a senior music major (clarinet) with a psychology minor from Hollywood, Md. Charlay is a member of the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Stadium Band, Collaborative Wind Project and various chamber groups. She has also served as a camp counselor for the High School Wind Ensemble Institute. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) and Collegiate Music Educators National Conference (CMENC) and coordinator of the Pennsylvania Collegiate Music Educators Association (PCMEA) for CMENC. Charlay is the vice president of ritual for Sigma Alpha Iota, a professional music fraternity, has been very active on and off campus with service projects, and assists with the Susquehanna University Preparatory Program. Outside of music, Charlay is the president of Colleges Against Cancer (CAC) and is an orientation leader for incoming freshmen and transfer students, as well as a senator of the Student Government Association.



Katie Battle is from Stroudsburg, Pa., and is a sophomore music education major with a concentration in the horn. Katie is a member of the Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Stadium Band, Collaborative Wind Project, Woodwind Quintet and Pit Orchestra in the school musicals. She is a residence hall assistant (RA) for Hassinger Hall and also works as band staff librarian and as a member of the Sexton Chapel Crew. She is a member of Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) where she is acting sergeant-at-arms, and is a member of Collegiate Music Educators National Conference (CMENC) as well. Katie is also a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, the first year honors society. 



 Alyssa Williams is a sophomore music education major (horn) from Milton, Pa. Alyssa has been a member of Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Stadium Band, Orchestra, the Collaborative Wind Project, and various chamber music ensembles. She currently serves as Property Manager for the Susquehanna University Bands and has served as a counselor for the SU High School Wind Ensemble Institute. Additionally, she is a member of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) and the Collegiate Music Educators National Conference (CMENC). Alyssa spends her time outside of the music department being a Resident Assistant (RA) in the Sassafras Complex.  

 

Sarah Porell is a sophomore double major in business administration (emphasis in human resource management) and music (trumpet) from Southbury, Conn. Sarah has been a member of the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Stadium Band, Collaborative Wind Project, Jazz Band, and Orchestra. She is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, a professional music fraternity, where she is the fundraising committee chair. Sarah is also a Music Theory TA for levels one and two. Outside of music, Sarah is a project manager for the Ethics Essay Contest as a part of Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) and is a coach for the business first year class, Global Business Perspectives.
