White, a lyric soprano, is active as a performer and teacher of art song, church music and oratorio. She has performed the soprano solos in such works as Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s B Minor Mass and the Magnificat, Haydn’s Mass in D Minor and The Creation, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Mozart’s Requiem and that of Rutter, Vaughan Williams’ Hodie, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Honegger’s King David. She appeared as a soloist with the Susquehanna University Festival Choir and Orchestra at Carnegie Hall in March 2008 as part of the university’s sesquicentennial celebration.
White is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and has taught voice and conducted choirs for more than 30 years. Since coming to Susquehanna in 1993 she has taught studio voice, voice class and directed the University Chorale. Before joining the voice faculty at Susquehanna, White maintained a private studio of 30 students, some of whom went on to pursue careers in music or theater professionally. She also taught applied voice and vocal pedagogy at Lycoming College and studio voice at Bucknell University.
An alumna of Susquehanna University, White graduated with honors, receiving a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. She has furthered her passion for vocal pedagogy with additional study at Marywood College, workshops at Westminster Choir College, and has pursued vocal coaching with Klara Meyers at Temple University, as well as Ruth Drucker, Phyllis Curtin and Thomas Houser. Adopting the philosophy that performing artists need to explore and perform all genres of music, she dedicates her instruction to that end, teaching the vocal classics of all eras. Active as a musician within the community, she extends the same philosophy in coaching people of all ages to express their ever-evolving identity as an artist.
