Piastro is a versatile professional singer, equally comfortable with classical and musical theater styles. She has performed many operatic roles, including Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, Euridice in Glück’s Orfeo ed Euridice, Pamina in The Magic Flute, Lucy in The Telephone, and Alma in Lee Hoiby’s Summer and Smoke. Past musical theater roles include Maria in West Side Story, Eva Peron in Evita, and Adelaide in Guys and Dolls.

In the summer of 2008, Piastro was a young artist with the Emerald City Opera Young Artist Institute in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where she covered the role of Despina in Così fan tutte and sang in the chorus for La Traviata.

This past season’s engagements include Djamileh with Opera Theater of Pittsburgh, Anna in L’Africaine with Amici Opera, Celia in Iolanthe with Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, Zerlina in Don Giovanni with Center Stage Opera and the soprano soloist for Handel’s Messiah with the Messiah College Choral Arts Society.

Piastro has sung with numerous opera and music theater companies including Emerald City Opera, Opera Theater of Pittsburgh, Center Stage Opera, Amici Opera, the New York Conservatory for the Arts, Pittsburgh Music Theater, Pittsburgh Opera and Penn State Opera Theater. She has also sung with internationally respected conductors such as Robert Page and Stuart Malina, and with well-known directors such as Dorothy Danner, Sarah Meyers and Jonathan Eaton.

She is currently working on her Doctorate of Musical Arts in voice performance at Shenandoah Conservatory. She also is a member of the voice faculty at Lycoming College.
