Tina Statkevicz '11
Lansdale, Pa. | Wissahickon High School
Major: Biology
Minor: Health Care Studies
Clubs/activities: Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity, Study Buddy, Beta Beta Beta biological honor society, Alpha Lambda Delta first-year honor society
Post-graduation plans: I plan to attend dental school to become an orthodontist.
Meaningful faculty connection: Dr. Reichard-Brown is always there for me if I need to talk. She always asks how I am doing with school and is a valuable source of information about Susquehanna and getting into dental school.
Most exciting thing about studying prehealth at Susquehanna: Learning the subject matter and being able to apply it in everyday life. In my genetics class, we acted as genetic counselors to diagnose a "patient." We got to apply the techniques we learned to a real-life situation. This is what a Susquehanna education is all about!
Nick Corridoni '11
Berwick, Pa. | Berwick Area Senior High School
Major: Biology
Minor: Health Care Studies
Clubs/activities: Biology Club, Crew Club, Habitat for Humanity, Pre-health Professionals Club, Alpha Lambda Delta first-year honor society, Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity, Beta Beta Beta biological honor society, Sigma Alpha Pi leadership and success honor society
Post-graduation plans: A career as a naval doctor.
Favorite class: Ecology, Evolution and Heredity. In this first-year biology course, I began the transformation into a more independent thinker. I learned what it meant to study, understand and apply basic scientific knowledge. Different topics were interwoven to create a greater understanding beyond the memorization tactics of high school.
Biggest academic challenge: Adapting to different professors and their teaching methods. Group work is also challenging—writing academic journal-style research papers together, conducting laboratories together and depending upon each other to do the work. However, this type of learning improves communication skills and gives students a glimpse of the teamwork structure that occurs in the workplace, especially in medicine.
Rebecca Rittle '12
Ringtown, Pa. | North Schuylkill Jr/Sr High School
Major: Biology
Minor: Health Care Studies
Clubs/activities: Health Care Club, Beta Beta Beta biological honor society, Alpha Lambda Delta first-year honor society
Post-graduation plans: Attend physician's assistant school and become a physician's assistant specialized in pediatrics.
Favorite class: My favorite class was Human Anatomy because I am really interested in practicing medicine. Human anatomy amazes me because I never realized how involved and complicated the human body is. I like understanding exactly what’s going on in my body when something happens, such as how a bone is “fixed.”
The most exciting thing about studying prehealth at Susquehanna: My favorite thing about studying prehealth was dissecting the cats in human anatomy because it was so much easier understanding the parts of the body by having a hands-on experience rather than looking at pictures in a text books.

Bloomsburg, Pa. | Bloomsburg Area High School
Major: Biology
Minor: Chemistry, Health Care Studies, Honors Program
Clubs/activities: Big Brothers/Big Sisters treasurer, Men's Varsity Swimming
Post-graduation plans: Attend medical school
Favorite class: Science classes have always interested me, but learning about the body, how it operates and how it reacts to the environment is extremely interesting. Cell and Organismal Biology was my favorite class because it had a lot of medical ties built into the class and was genuinely interesting.
The most exciting thing about studying prehealth at Susquehanna: The classes required for my major and minors challenged me, but the professors were always willing to help me succeed. The most exciting thing at SU is being challenged and succeeding.
