The repertoire for these performing ensembles covers a broad spectrum of styles and is chosen to provide a challenging yet rewarding opportunity for musical and personal growth.
Susquehanna University has a vibrant orchestral program, providing a broad range of standard repertoire opportunities for string players of all levels, pre-professional wind, brass, and percussionists, and singers who collaborate with the orchestras on operas and oratorios.
Big band and small jazz ensembles are open to all SU students by audition. Small ensembles are open to all instrumentation, including voice. Performances take place at a variety of venues both on and off campus, and include outdoor campus parties, formal concerts, modern composer features and swing dances.
The SU Percussion Ensemble explores a wide variety of literature and presents regular concerts. Students develop facility with the full gamut of percussion instruments.
The chamber music program at SU provides the opportunity to study significant works for small instrumentation, receiving academic credit and coaching from our outstanding faculty. At the recommendation of the private teacher, students are nominated for these unique experiences.
