Online Student Literary Project

Hypertext critical edition of "The Yellow Wallpaper," produced by Lindsey Guy '10

In my History of the Book course, many students opt to design hypertext critical editions of literary works for their final projects. In the spring of 2009, student Lindsey Guy constructed a hypertext edition of Charlotte Perkins Gilman's short story "The Yellow Wallpaper," and I'm delighted to have it shared here. Students in the newly formed Publishing and Editing minor will have similar opportunities to publish their work online.

Visit "The Yellow Wallpaper" project, and click on the framed icons to explore the text and the background of Gilman's story. The frame at top left contains links to each of the story's diary entries, along with running annotation on the right. The other portals offer useful literary and historical context for the piece, as well as the textual history of Gilman's work.

Enjoy!
