Finding an Internship
Internship coordinators in most academic departments, the university's Sigmund Weis School of Business and the Career Development Center can assist in locating opportunities. Some students find internships on their own, often through networking with families, friends and community contacts.
Internships in Washington, D.C., are available through the Lutheran Consortium Internship Program and the American University Internship Program. Each provides valuable opportunities for students to gain skills while also experiencing life in the nation's capital. These programs are offered during the summer and throughout the academic year with placements at government, business or non-profit sites.
Internships are available in a wide variety of fields. Students can choose full-term internships during the summer or academic year or short-term, one-to-two week externships, often during semester break. While many are unpaid, some pay very well.
