Susquehanna students can look forward to a rewarding semester of student teaching in their senior year. For education students, this opportunity is an opportunity to apply the classroom strategies, techniques and plans they have studied.
The department’s student-teaching semester is 15 weeks long. Early childhood students, who will be dually certified in early childhood and elementary education, have a 16-week-long semester. On average, students will spend 520 hours in the student-teaching classroom.
In addition to student teaching in the spring of the senior year, liberal studies majors spend time during the prior fall semester in the classroom with their cooperating teacher. They prepare and perform hands-on classroom teaching before officially beginning student teaching in January of their senior year.
