Majors: Business Administration, Economics

At Susquehanna, I took on the challenge of a double major in business administration and economics. Although I worked hard in college, I believe it was my connections with other business school alumni that helped me land my first job.

At the suggestion of former business school dean James Brock, I tapped into the alumni network to help me obtain internships at three related reinsurance companies in Zurich, Switzerland, while I was still attending Susquehanna.

I contacted George Liberopoulos ’86, who at the time was co-head of U.S. business for Goldman Sachs’ Prime Brokerage Group, as well as Susan Mays ’04 and Jason Eck ’05, who were working for George.

The first thing Susan and Jason told me was that as Susquehanna graduates, we can create a reputations
as some of the hardest-working, dedicated and most responsible people in the firm. That way, we could stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our coworkers who came from the Ivy League schools.

I’m happy to say the internships led to full time employment at Goldman Sachs. The advice from Susan and Jason gave me confidence, and helped me measure up to the responsibilities I was given.

During the first six years of my career, I went from financial analyst to vice president in Client Services at Goldman Sachs’ Prime Brokerage Group in New York City, where I served as the relationship manager for 30 hedge fund clients.

I followed that with a year in consulting in the Financial Advisory Practice at Ernst & Young in Chicago, and today I am working at one of my former clients, Northern Trust. I am currently responsible for helping to drive strategic initiatives across the Hedge Fund Services group in a program management capacity.

The experience I gained at Susquehanna has been extremely helpful. It provided me with a framework of organization, ease of working as a team, and a strong work ethic—all of which have allowed me to succeed and add value to the various firms where I have worked.
