Sigma Gamma Epsilon
Sigma Gamma Epsilon (SGE) is the national honor society for the earth sciences. Membership is based on the scholastic and scientific advancement of its members; the extension of the relations of friendship and assistance between the university and scientific schools of the United States and Canada; and the advancement of the earth sciences. High scholarship and active interest in the pursuit of work in the earth sciences are fundamental requirements for membership.
Susquehanna’s Eta Lambda chapter of this national honor society for the earth sciences was formed in 2004. The society promotes scholarship, professionalism, and the professional advancement of its members, as well as the extension of relationships among colleges and universities devoted to the advancement of the earth sciences.
The Eta Lambda chapter holds events such as kayaking excursions on the Susquehanna River; hiking and camping trips in the mountains and on the region’s extensive public lands; and environmental education programs at local schools.
