Field Stations
Hepner Ecology Lab at Camp Karoondinha
Henstep Run and Faylor Lake are just a few of the ecological resources available for fieldtrips and student projects at this Boy Scout camp. The property features more than 600 acres from 600 to 1,800 feet above sea level. It includes deciduous and mixed coniferous forests, an eight-acre lake, Penns Creek and small streams.
PennDOT Wetland
Just two miles from campus, this constructed wetland along Penns Creek offers many opportunities for groundwater chemistry and ecosystem structure studies.
Montandon Marsh
A palustrine wetland in an ancient, abandoned channel of the Susquehanna River, Montandon Marsh provides unique glacial outwash sediments that support a variety of native and even rare species.
Urban Wetland in Sunbury
Urban wetlands offer an interesting mix of urban influence on natural ecology. The site combines groundwater discharge and stormwater runoff into a basin that supports common reeds, cattails, turtles and songbirds.
