Gathman is founder, chairman and chief creative officer for USAgency, America’s Advertising Agency Network. He has led the national, award-winning full-service firm since its founding in 1988. USAgency strategic corporate advertising and marketing campaigns have powered the sale of billions of dollars worth of goods and services for major regional and national brands including PPG Industries, Drexel Heritage, AvisAmerica, Holsum Butter-Krust, Superior Walls of America, Excel Homes, The First, Willits Footwear Worldwide, Conestoga Communications, York Federal, American Information Systems, First Citizens National Bank, Original American Country, Tibbits International, A Light In The Darkness and Pastime Sports, Ltd., among many others.
Gathman previously served as the national director of advertising for Pennsylvania House, a division of General Mills. He was a key member of the marketing team that drove the company’s sales from $64 million to over $138 million between 1983 and 1988, helping to make it America’s premier furniture maker and the nation’s fastest-growing fine home furnishings brand during that five-year period.
An award-winning writer, producer, creative director, and BMI songwriter, his print and broadcast campaigns have received numerous regional and national Vision, Telly, Addy, and Communicator Awards. His original music compositions created the "America Standing Tall World Tour," where he led The Front Porch Country Band on their 21,000-mile concert tour across The People’s Republic of China. The band performed to sold-out arenas for weeks as headliners on China’s greatest stages.
Gathman has served on the faculty of Susquehanna for over a decade. He has been listed in Who’s Who of American Inventors for his patented inventions. Gathman is founder and national campaign director for The Campaign for Life in America. He and his wife, Katharine, reside in the college town of Lewisburg, Pa. They are the parents of four grown children, Andrew, Laura, Carolyn and Thomas.
