Information For Employers

Overview

If you are interested in employing Sigmund Weis School of Business student interns, please submit an Inquiry Form. After receiving your information, we will contact you to ask if you wish to review a few student resumes.If, after reviewing these resumes, you develop an employment interest, you may contact the students directly.

Should you decide to hire an intern, you will be asked to complete and sign a Student Learning Contract. The student intern will then process the contract and obtain other required signatures at the university. The completed contract will be a source document to record academic credits for the internship.

During the internship you may be visited by the student's Faculty Internship Advisor. The objective is to strengthen the link between your organization and Susquehanna University.

After the internship is completed, you will be requested to complete an Employer Evaluation Form and then send it to the Faculty Internship Advisor. The information you provide will be used to assess the student's on-the-job performance, and to gain some insight on the effectiveness of the Business Internship Program.

We will retain your company information in our database and will continue to send you resumes every year unless you notify us otherwise.

Available Forms

There are three forms used in the Business Internship Program. Each is discussed below.

Form 1—Employer Inquiry Form

This form is used for employers to indicate an interest in the internship program and to provide information about their company.

Form 2—Student Learning Contract

This form is required to document all internships. The contract must be completed and signed by all parties (i.e. the student, the employer, and the SWSB faculty internship advisor). The student must submit it to the Office of the Registrar before the internship begins.

Form 3—Employer Evaluation of Intern

This form is to be submitted by the employer to the student intern’s SWSB faculty internship advisor. The evaluation form must be submitted soon after the completion of the internship.

Results of this employer evaluation are used by the faculty advisor to assist in determining whether the student intern has satisfactorily completed the requirements of the internship.  It is at the employer’s discretion whether to discuss the results of this evaluation with the student intern.
