Febles is entering her second year as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Modern Languages at Susquehanna University. She is currently in the final stages of her dissertation work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with an anticipated defense in November 2013. Her primary area of study is colonial Latin American literature and culture with a specialization in intellectual culture in 18th- and 19th-century Mexico. Other areas of interest include Latin American theater, The Spanish Golden Age, 18th- and 19th-century Cuban literature and culture, and Latino culture in the U.S. from the colonial period to the contemporary moment. In addition, Febles enjoys meeting with and mentoring students with regard to their own cultural, literary and linguistic interests. She is often inspired by her students to explore new areas of research.
