Pérez Perdomo is a Fulbright Modern Language Fellow (FLTA) from Montevideo, Uruguay. She was awarded her Bachelor’s Degree as a Teacher of English as a Foreign Language in 2006 by the Binational Center Alianza Cultural Uruguay-Estados Unidos in collaboration with the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She also obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Universidad de la República in Uruguay. She is currently pursuing her Master of Sciences degree in information and communication technologies (ICTs) in her home country.
Pérez Perdomo has been working for seven years as an English teacher both in private and public institutions, as well as with different levels and ages. She finds it very fulfilling to carry out activities that allow the interweaving of her background in education and communications. Hence, she has been pursuing practices that enhance language learning through media and ICTs. She has had the opportunity to present at different academic events on this issue.
This is Pérez Perdomo’s first time in the United States. She hopes she will be able to represent her country, culture and language during her teaching assistantship, and take in as much as she can from the United States while she is here. She expects this experience as a FLTA will be extremely enriching for her academically, professionally and, most of all, as a human being.
In her spare time, Pérez Perdomo enjoys all types of activities that are culturally and socially enriching, especially dancing, singing, reading, meeting friends and trying out new activities.
