Jake van der Kolk (or VanderKolk) is a German adjunct at Susquehanna and is finishing a Ph.D. program in German literature and culture at Penn State. For the 2012–13 year, he is teaching both levels of Intermediate German. He specializes in early 20th-century modernist prose, aesthetic theory and the reader response approach. Currently he is writing his dissertation titled "Reading in Time: The Reader in Hermann Broch's Der Tod des Vergil" on the novel The Death of Virgil (1945) by Hermann Broch.
